Starbucks, the Seattle based coffee company is launching a new logo as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations.
As part of a major rebrand, the familiar logo will shift from being green and black to solely green. The outer circle has been removed and the company has also dropped their name from the logo leaving just the “Starbucks Siren” image.
It's rumoured that the company wants to expand beyond its image as a premium coffee house and tap into lucrative new markets including non-coffee related products.
Essentially, by stripping away any mention of coffee, tea, or anything else from its logo, Starbucks can more freely start selling other stuff.
Starbucks is already moving ahead with plans to extend its product lines to include smoothies, tea and ice cream. The company is also said to be considering selling wine and beer in some of its US outlets.
